Fertility Treatment Post Surgery
Hope Healing Happiness
in Fertility Care
After laparoscopic surgery removes endometriosis lesions, adhesions, or ovarian cysts, the pelvis is often in a more “normal” state. This can allow the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uterus to function better, giving women a higher chance of conceiving naturally.
Fertility Treatment Post Surgery
What It is ?
After laparoscopic surgery removes endometriosis lesions, adhesions, or ovarian cysts, the pelvis is often in a more “normal” state. This can allow the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uterus to function better, giving women a higher chance of conceiving naturally. However, surgery is not always enough, so fertility treatments may be used afterward.
When It’s Considered ?
- For women who have had surgery but still struggle to conceive after several months.
- For women over 35, where age-related fertility decline makes waiting risky.
- If the fallopian tubes remain damaged after surgery.
- If the couple has other infertility issues (low sperm count, poor egg quality, or unexplained factors).
Procedure / Approach
- 6–12 months natural try period: Doctors often suggest trying to conceive naturally after surgery before moving to treatments
If pregnancy doesn’t happen:
- Ovulation induction (medications) to help release healthy eggs.
- Intrauterine insemination (IUI): Washed sperm is directly placed inside the uterus during ovulation.
- IVF (In vitro fertilization): Considered if other methods fail, or if age/egg reserve is an issue.
Results
- Best results seen in women with mild to moderate endometriosis, where natural conception rates increase after surgery.
- For advanced endometriosis, surgery may relieve pain but fertility treatment is often needed.
- Studies show that the chance of natural pregnancy is highest in the first year after surgery.
